Sponsored Programs & Research Compliance
The conduct of research at the University is governed by a maze of federal and state laws.
The Office of University Counsel interprets these laws and advises the offices and committees designated with compliance oversight. Some of the sponsored research issues include:
- Academic integrity in research and publication policy and procedures
- Animal subject care and use
- Conflict of interest and commitment policy
- Research Safety
- Export control
- Administration of grants and contracts (post award)
- Protection of human subjects
- Negotiation of grant and sponsored research contracts
If you have questions about research compliance, you should first contact the appropriate office or committee with oversight over the subject matter. Or you should contact the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research on your campus: Urbana-Champaign ; Chicago; Springfield.
