Mike joined the Office of University Counsel in January 2011 from private practice, where he advised about 100 local school councils on a broad range of issues and served as a hearing officer for the Chicago Board of Education. He also has served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois. Mike received a J.D. from the University of Iowa (2005) and a B.A. from the University of Chicago (2000). Prior to law school, Mike taught high school history to inner-city students at Farragut Career Academy, a CPS school. During law school, he interned for the Chicago Board of Education's law department, focusing on student disciplinary issues and issues regarding the extent of student constitutional rights.
